Sometimes, when we face something scary or uncertain, our hearts start racing, and we lose confidence in ourselves. It can happen when we have an important test, examination or upcoming presentation or when we have to perform in front of a big audience. But we shouldn’t let our fears control us! Instead, we should try to be confident and believe in ourselves.

Here’s an example you can discuss with your child: right now, there’s a war going on in Ukraine. The Ukrainian people are brave and are standing up to the Russian army, even though they’re scared. Teach the child to know that the Ukrainians had the confidence of possibly succeeding if they believed in themselves and worked together,

But it’s not just big scary things that can make children lose confidence. Sometimes, other people can say mean things that hurt their feelings, or a friend might stop being their friend. When it happens, let the child remember that they don’t have to be afraid but can choose to be confident and stay calm, even when things are tough.

Let your child know that if they feel scared or uncertain about something, they should try to believe in themselves and be confident. They should not let their fears control them!
